harvest dreams

maggie has always been interested in tractors and combines and farm stuff. she loves playing with dirty and purdy her tractors. she enjoyed riding in the combine last fall.

once we went back to school she started talking about combining with papa this fall. she started to watch the corn on our drive home after school. she did not want to miss harvest time. she noticed the corn starting to turn from green to brown. she became more concerned. i would email nana and give maggie an update on papas corn. soon those email updates became not good enough. so we would call nana....checking to see if papa was in the field. then we would call nana, hang up, and have to call papa to double check. papa promised maggie that he would not go to the field without letting her know. she believe him, but we still had to call to check in here and there. finally last weekend maggie got to have all her harvest dreams come true.

  • the big girls went to nana and papas all by themselves. cece said it is super fun to go without me.
  • they slept together in a queen size bed. reports tells us cece sang to maggie on friday night to put her to sleep.
  • saturday the girls combined with papa. maggie fell asleep.
  • after attending a surprise birthday party, papa told maggie if she stayed awake on the ride home they could go combine in the dark. you better believe she stayed awake. as the story goes papa said to the girls "you can check combining in the dark off your list." and maggie said "check!"
  • sunday afternoon papa took all the kiddos out for a combine ride. maggie said she didn't need any help climbing into the combine and jake enjoyed it just as much as the girls did.

hello saturday

1. hello long week. it was a long week. one of those weeks where you feel like you are crawling across the finish line. we had conferences for all three girls. plus two nights of conferences for me. last weekend was jills wedding. so tired. and we were dealing with some sickness running through the family. good news nothing we can't handle. and we made it.

2. hello fall friday night. yesterday after school we headed straight outside....after chores and devouring an entire package of oreos. whoops. we came in to eat pizza and then headed right back out. it was a beautiful night.

3. hello double ear infection. i mentioned above some sickness. sweet jake boy ended up with double ear infection. poor dude. some antibiotics and a day of rest at home with momma and he was good as new. seriously i stayed home with him on wednesday and he was awake maybe 5 hours totall all day. maybe. boy likes to get his sleep on. big time.

4. hello halloween. all costumes are ready. no family theme around here this year. everyone picked whatever they wanted. fun stuff.

5. hello organization. since the shiplap is up and painted and oh so pretty. we have moved on to the function piece. lots of organization happening. today we hope to finish building some bookcases for the basement. i am excited. i think it is going to be pretty spiffy!

happy saturday y'all.
