baby jake's room

honestly i didn't think we would have baby brother's room ready for him before he arrived.

but sure enough we did!

it came together rather easily.

a few months again i wrote about my inspiration {here}. we had a ton of good ideas.

brother's room started out looking like this..

it was pink and girly and working as our toy room.

the first step was removing all the toys. next up was paint. it took a few tries but we found the perfect gray for baby brother's room.

we choose a gray that was a few shades darker than the wall color to paint the changing table. the changing table is very special to us and tim has painted it for each one of the babies.

we found a crib for $20 on a swap site and purchased a new mattress. i found striped sheets at target. once the crib was up and the changing table was painted and ready to go all the furniture was in place.

now it was time for finishing touches.

first thing was sewing a few blankets for mr. jake. for each baby i have made a baby quilt. going to the quilting store is one of my favorite things. i enjoyed picking fabric for our little dude. as we started working on his room i decided to stick more with grays and blues. here is what i came up with for his quilt.

here is how the quilt turned out. it was really important to me to have his quilt ready for him before he was born.

earlier this fall tim and i had looked at fabric and had picked up some baseball fabric. well it didn't really fit with the quilt. so i decided to make him a baseball blanket. makes sense right. the big girls questioned the fact that brother got an extra blanket that they didn't have. made me laugh. oh girls.

with the blankets done. i started decorating the walls. one of my favorite things in brother's room are these arrows. tim and i made these arrows out of lath my dad pulled out the bathroom in their house. i had my dad save me a pile of lath, which he gives me a hard time about, but i think it is so cool to have a piece of the farmhouse in jake's room.

and finally.......baby jake's finished room.

brother has a lot of blankets.

the co sleeper moved to our room as soon as he came home.

i made these curtains out of a shower curtain. i think the blue stripes are perfect in jake's room.

the girls had a great time helping me pick out letter's for jacob's name. i had to paint a few of them to make them fit the color scheme. we found baskets at target to use in the changing table to hold all sorts of baby items from diapers to wipes to extra blankets.

i found a few fun prints online. and the iowa state bear was daddys. perfect.

i am so happy with how jake's room turned out. it is the perfect space for our brave little man.

hello monday

hello family of six. miss cece helped me update the family on the back of our {very dirty totally needs a good washing} van.

love it.

the family. not the dirt.

hello full lap. magpie likes to join mr. jake on my lap. a full lap is a good lap. most of the time ;)

hello sister love. i think cece likes her little brother just a little bit.

hello growing jake. he was back to his birth weight. we go in tomorrow for another weight check. my guess is he is packing on the pounds.

or ounces.

hello bright eyes. jake is starting to have more awake times.

hello pole. oh miss ellie. she brings home this note from the nurse about a head injury. she ran into a pole at recess. the pole was actually a basketball hoop.

oh my.

her friends say she made the basketball hoop vibrate back and forth.

goodness.

don't worry she is a-ok.

hello happy jake. he is pretty calm and content. he enjoys eating and sleeping.

hello smiley jake. love catching these sleepy smiles. sweet dreams buddy.

hello snuggles.

hello miss maggie. this girl is just something else.

hello cyclone gear. i stumbled upon this little windsuit at the consignment store. ellie's response when i showed her.....doesn't dad have the exact same one? i think he does.

i picked up a pair of khaki pants too.

can you say twins?!?!?

hello basketball. actually hello the end of basketball. ellie played her final game of the season on saturday. she has had a great season and finished up with a bang. her team had a rather intense come from behind victory. ellie played hard and aggressive and scored a few buckets. it was fun to watch gunner (ellie is not afraid to the shoot the ball) play!

hello great grandma. grandma pirate was in town and was able to watch ellie play and meet baby jake.

hello more snuggles. we are getting in a lot of snuggle time around here.

hello goofy sisters.

hello ice skating. lucky miss ellie got invited to go ice skating on saturday. and of course she had a blast.

hello momma cece.

hello best baby bro. this is one of my favorite pictures of jakey to date. love that little dude.

hello pillow protection. they wanted to make sure he was safe. oh brother.

hello park play. one of the benefits of a mild january is getting these girls outside to burn off some energy. the middle sisters played while big sister practiced volleyball and little brother snoozed in the van.

everyone wins.

happy monday y'all!
