Here is our Christmas Story....
Our Christmas got started on Christmas Eve. Grandma and Grandpa Weesner came over for soup before going with us to Christmas Eve Church. It was a different Christmas Eve for them....first time in 25+ years Dave hasn't preached on Christmas eve. Church was at 6pm and Cece got a little antsy during worship so I took her to the nursery...and forgot to remind them she was newly potty trained. When the pager went off I knew it could only be one thing! An accident! She has only had a hand full and of course it would happen on Christmas Eve at Church! So luckily I had an extra pair of panties and shoes for her...but no tights! At this point the service was almost over so I cleaned her up the best I could and took her back to church with me. As we were going to sit down she announces "I don't have any pants on!" Grandpa Dave was pretty sure only 8 rows could easily hear her! The service was a beautiful reminder of keeping Christ the center of our lives and to take Him well beyond the manger.
The girls were so excited! When we got home we changed into jammies and exchanged presents with our family. Ellie and Cecilia received bean bag chairs and when Cece opened hers she exclaimed "It's just what I wanted!" So sweet...melts this mommas heart! We set out cookies and milk and didn't forget our reindeer food. Both girls went to bed quickly and easily! They didn't want to risk Santa Claus not coming!
Of course Ellie got us up bright and early on Christmas morning. She has a saying, "Wake Up, Stay Up!" She does this during the school year...wakes up early and stays up to watch cartoons before she has to get ready for school. Tim told her there is one time of year where she can do "Wake Up, Wake Up!" where she wakes up and gets to wake the rest of us up. She sure did!!! At 6 am she came running in! We got Cece up and headed down.....and guess what?!?!?! Santa came! Both girls were so happy! Ellie got her Wii Fit and Cece got her swingset {it is a kit which Daddy has to buy some lumber and build}.
We loaded up the minivan and headed out for the farm. We had a big day ahead of us...Christmas with my mom's family, Christmas with my family, and a sledding party with the Cousins!
Mom made a wonderful meal and desserts were even better! It was great to see my Grandparents and Aunt and Uncle and Cousins. The girls had fun playing with their second cousins Tyson and Easton. They had me a little worried when Ellie and Tyson came running saying "Cece's stuck" I raced upstairs with them to find her. They had been jumping on the bed in the guest room which has a rod-iron headboard. She had slipped through the opening between the headboard and mattress, she couldn't get out! She had such a funny look on her face! We easily pulled her to safety! After that every night when we went to bed she talked about getting stuck. We had our annual gift exchange and this year there was a bit of a mix up. My sister set it up at Thanksgiving and somehow her husband, Noah, ended up with 2 presents and my sister in law Tina didn't get one! We think it was a little fishy! Em swears she did it right! Oh and right before our meal I attempted to cut the tip of my finger of with scissors! I was fine until it bled through 2 bandaids! Luckily Tim swooped in to work his magic!
Later that evening we exchanged gifts with my family....like usual too many gifts! But oh so fun! Mom held on to here gifts until last. She gave Emily, Tina, and I the same gifts....after we all opened up the apple peeler, followed by the food mill...my brother exclaimed "Are you trying to make us make our own applesauce!?!?!?" Not happening! My mom makes some amazing applesauce! We all got a good laugh! Girls were excited to get new suitcases from Nana and Papa.
And to the event of events...the Cousin Lovin Sledding Party! What started out as Emily and Noah just wanting to do a little sledding turned into the "Best Sledding Party Ever!!" Scott and Tina, Em and Noah, cousins Jenny, Josh, Jill and Joy were there along with their significant others (giggle!) and Aunt Cathy, My Cousin Alan and his wife Sara came back after getting the boys to bed, my Cousin Dan and his kids, Papa, Tim, Ellie and I headed out in to the hay field for some sledding at 8pm. Papa and the boys had built a bon fire. We had a four wheeler, a snowmobile, and a whole bunch of sleds. Josh had brought music and hot cocoa. Ellie stayed out sledding til 11pm...then her and Papa went home to go to bed. The rest of us stayed out til 1:30am...sledding, dancing, laughing and making total fools of ourselves. When we got back to the house mom had food and cocoa waiting for us. It was a night to remember...everything worked out just perfectly....everyone could be there, plenty of snow, temperatures we could handle! Definitely living the Good Life!
The next day was spent playing wii, dominos, napping, and playing out in the snow. There really isn't anything better than winter on the farm. So much to do and oh so beautiful!
Tim had to go back to work on Monday, so the girls and I stayed for a couple more days. Jenny, Jill and Joy came out Monday afternoon for some sledding and snow fort building. We didn't start out thinking we would build such an amazing fort...it just sort of happened. We worked for 2 hours building 3 tunnels and a escape hole in the middle into the huge pile of snow Papa had made. Honestly, I didn't think we would stick with it...but we persevered! Jenny, Jill and Joy came back out on Tuesday to add a 4th tunnel and a room in the middle! {did I mention Joy is my youngest cousin at 18....we still love to play in the snow!}
We finally made it back home on Wednesday. We had a W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L. Christmas surrounded by our loved ones. And we are not done yet....we will celebrate Weesner Christmas on New Years Day! Girls are excited for some play time with their cousins!
