sisters

Here are pictures of all of three girls when they were fresh out of the oven. To answer the who does Maggie look like question....well we think she looks a lot like her sisters.

Ellie JoLynn

Cecilia Kate

Maggie Vera

Maggie has the same round face as her sisters and cubby cheeks. Her eyes and nose seem very similar to Cece. Some of the facial expressions she makes remind me a lot of Ellie. She has a little more hair than Ellie did, but not as much as Cece. Honestly, when they first handed her to me I thought to myself...I have had this baby before! She reminds me so much of the other girls...not an identical match but there is no denying they are all three sisters!

For more of a trip down memory lane...here is when Ellie first became a big sis.

And here is Cece when she became a big sis.

This kind of blew me away....I think Cece looks a lot like Ellie did at 4! Sisters for sure!

These three little ladies have been keeping me prety busy lately...but I am loving it!

Wordless Wednesday: Newborn Maggie

We had Jodie from Kampens Creations Photography capture newborn Maggie. Again, she did not disappoint! These pictures are just amazing! Maggie was six short days old in these pictures. She has already grown and changed so much....so thankful we had these lovelies taken. Enjoy :)

terrific tuesday and other randomness.....

I know I haven't been getting many posts up lately and I know I have a perfectly good reason. My days slip by oh so quickly. However, there are things I want to share...so I am trying to get back in the blog swing of things. So, we will getting started with this random post coming straight at ya from my slightly or heavily (depending on the night) sleep deprived mind.....

1. Cece is L-O-V-I-N-G preschool. You would think it would wear out our napper bug Cece...but nope she is a chatterbox and go go goes after school. It is so cute! She really tells me all about her day and sings me the songs they sang. I love it! Hopefully this continues into elementary school. Here is her noodle project! She said she used more noodles than anyone else. That a way Cecers!

2. Maggie is doing well. Currently she is on the 7-9-11-1-3-5-7-9 plus a couple during the night feeding schedule. Just call me the milk truck.....nuff said.

3. The question on everyone's mind....is she letting you sleep. The answer...most of the time. Most nights she only wakes to eat twice and is right back to sleep...but some nights she likes to just hang out all night. Those are not my favorite nights:)

4. Saturday is the home opener for our Cyclones. I really want to go...but with temps forecasted in the 90s I think Maggie and I are going to have to sit this one out.  Which is a bit of a bummer. No worries though....there will be plenty of Cyclone events in our future!

5. Today was Terrific Tuesday for Cece at preschool. And on Terrific Tuesday they got to paint and she sure thought that was terrific. Simple things. I made her Tuesday even more Terrific by giving in stopping at the store on the way home and letting her pick out fruit snacks. Simple things, simple things.

6. I really wish the temps would cool off. I handled it well during my pregnancy but now I just want this hot weather to go away! I would love to get outside with girls after school...but it just too hot for Miss M.

7. Since Maggie is on the before mentioned feeding schedule, I have been getting in my share of TV time. I started DVR-ing Craft Wars. I have a couple thoughts here....the judges are way mean and there are WAY too many voice overs.

8. Earlier today, I caught Cece working with Maggie on her numbers.

9. There is a lot of Sister Love going on around these parts. It makes my heart so happy watching the big sisters love on their little sister. Of course we all knew Cece was super excited for Maggie to come along. However, Ellie was a bit more reserved with her exctiement, but she is not reserved with her love for Maggie. She makes sure to give her a hug and kiss before she heads to school and Maggie is the first person she talks to when she gets home. She loves to hold Maggie and gives her sweet kisses. She has even started reading to her. The relationship they share is going to be something special!

10. One of the things I love about having three girls, is that Miss Maggie has plenty of clothes to wear! It is so fun to dress her in outfits that have such special memories. This little watermelon outfit was one of the first things we purchased when we found out Ellie was well...Ellie. 8 years old and still lookin good!

11. We did the-best-boredom-buster-ever on Thursday and Friday. Put toys in a bucket, fill with water, freeze, and then bust them out! The girls really enjoyed themselves!

Well I think that is it for now......

Happy Tuesday!

Cecilia's First Day of Preschool

Cecilia started preschool today. Ever since Cece's preschool teacher stopped by for a home visit earlier this week Cece has talked about preschool non stop. To say she was super excited would be an understatement! She got up way early this morning...6 am! And asked me all morning when it was time to get ready...until she fell asleep and took a mid morning snooze :) She was so excited she ate her lunch with her back pack on! Such a goofy girl! Drop off went great...she got a teeny-tiny bit nervous right before her class went inside to their room. Afterwords she told me she cannot wait to go back tomorrow and she actually was able to tell me what she did....some sort of art project involving glue and a lot of noodles! We are so proud of you Cece! Love you lots!

She picked her outfit....she wanted to wear her favorite color orange. There are longer orange leggings that go with that top, but since it was so hot out we decided shorts was a better option. She picked to have her hair braided and to wear her new tennis shoes:)

Surprisingly, I didn't cry:) Though these changes make me sad...and make me realize how quickly my girls are growing up. I get so excited for the next step for my girls. I am so proud of the way they behave and carry themselves as wonderful little ladies. And this was no different. I am so happy for Cece. That she gets to experience preschool...I know she has been looking forward to this for a long time!

Maggie: Two Weeks

Maggie is two weeks old today!

She had her two week check up this afternoon.....here are her stats.

Weight: 7 pounds 14 ounces. This was great news. Maggie had lost 10% of her body weight while at the hospital and went home at 7 pounds 1 ounce. At her first weight check she was still at 7 pounds 1 ounce but at her second weight check last Wednesday she was up to 7 pounds 3 ounces. In the last week she has packed it on:)

Height: 20.5 inches. We thought she had stretched out a bit.

Maggie was a little gaggy during the first few days...we had a couple scares where her lips even turned blue. This gaggy-ness has improved over the last few days, but she still gets some ferocious hiccups quite a bit. Naturally she wants to sleep on her side which seems to help prevent hiccups....and if she doesn't get the hiccups she doesn't wake up...which makes her momma happy:)

Overall, she is doing great!

wordy wednesday: it's tough

tomorrow maggie is 2 weeks old...it is hard to believe it has been two weeks already!

while things are going pretty darn good around our house. i would be lying if i were to say these last couple weeks were full of blissful moments of snuggling our few little one. that is part of it but not all of it.

last night as we were giving maggie her bath, tim and I were talking about how the first few weeks after bringing a baby home are full of joys but are also pretty tough.

it is a mix of physical exhaustion from carrying a baby for nine months and then giving birth, the lack of sleep, and physical demands of breastfeeding. being emotionally overwhelmed by the instant love you feel for your newborn and the hormonal rollercoaster. feeling happy one minute and crying about that happiness the next! as well as watching your older children grow up in an instant. and mentally trying to adjust to your new normal, worrying about the random red spot on your baby or the strange sound they just made. not being able to get anything accomplished in a day. it is all a bit overwhelming.

i struggle a bit at the start. i am a person who likes routine and when you bring home a new baby....your routine gets blow all apart. it has to. you have to make a place in that routine for a new little person. you have to adjust to your new normal. i typically hit my stride around three weeks and start to feel like we are settling in to our new normal around one month.

right now we starting to get an idea of what our new normal will be like. what it is like to go to the store with a newborn and a very helpful 4 year old. what bathtime with three little ladies is like. how dinnertime works with a hungry maggie and food in the oven. how to get ellie to the bus stop on time with tim already gone to work in the morning. we are getting there but are not there yet and that is ok. we are trying hard to relax and go with the flow and enjoy these moments. we know we will look back at these first days and not remember the frazzled mess that we felt we were, but the joys.

there are many things we will want to remember....how we watched The Lorax about ten times during maggie's first few weeks (great big sister gift idea maggie...you are brilliant!). how tim and i have watched about a gazillion episodes of American Pickers and Pawn Stars.....but tim still refuses to go to the flea market with me. how our friends and family brought us great meals and yummy treats. how on her second day home maggie pooped out of her diaper and went potty all over clothes and the changing table and how tim and i just laughed. watching your older children fall in love with their new little sister.

so that is where we are. we are looking forward to the days where we have settled into our new normal (if our days are really ever normal). while trying to enjoy these moments that we know pass much too quickly.

Maggie: One Week

Maggie at One Week.

Maggie is actually 10 days old today, however I really wanted to share this one week picture. Hopefully as the weeks and months go by I will be able to get these milestone pictures posted on time....haha....I know probably won't happen, but I will try!

On another note....10 days already! I honestly don't know where the days have went! It is a bit of a blur of diaper changes, back to school, feedings, laundry, snuggles with three girls, naps, movie watching, and a few sleepless nights. We are getting along pretty well, Maggie is settled into somewhat of a routine and we are all adjusting well to being a family of five. Hard to believe that just two short weeks ago we were wondering when we would meet her and now she is the perfect part of our family!

Happy Weekend!

Introducing...

Miss Maggie Vera

She arrived Thursday August 9th, 2012 at 3:13 pm.

Maggie weighed 7 pounds and 12 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

She instantly stole our hearts in a way we didn't think possible and filled a space in our family we didn't even know existed. We are completely in love. We are very busy loving and caring for her....so here are some pictures of our honey bun Maggie.

A special thanks to Emily and Noah for snapping a few of these family pictures for us! We really appreciate it!
