five for friday.

1. last Saturday miss Cecilia painted my toenails. she was so excited to paint them. i wore the paint job with pride all week. maybe we can do a less rainbowish version this weekend:)

2. oreos are currently on sale at fareway for $1.77! yes folks one dollar and seventy seven cents. run and go get some now! that is like a deal of your life kind of a deal. so of course we bought a pack or two or three..... good thing they were on sale because ellie and cece sat down and ate two whole rows all on their own....i was right there....they just ate them before i could even get them stopped. i was even amazed by there oreo eating. can we make some money on that??? ANYWHO.... we let Maggie try a few. according to her big sisters this was one of the best moments of her life! she loved them.

3. i came across {this post} today. a mother load of cold lunch ideas. and if you are a cold lunch packing momma like me....you can always use a new idea. how is our cold lunch packing going this year, you ask. well it is going super fantastic great. this summer we purchased new lunch boxes from llbean. they are fantastic. and the best decision was purchasing some of these. i mean seriously life changing. someone who shall remain nameless might be a tiny bit tired of hearing me talk about how they have changed my life....but i stand by my words. life changing.

4. and {this post} on drop off/pick up lines. hilarious. and SO TRUE!

5. there is kind of a big game happening in our town tonight. like history in the making. pretty cool to be part of all that. we were all planning to go, but with the scorching heat only the big girls and i are going. we have our Jag Swag on!

happy friday!!!

Ellie's Bedroom Makeover

a while back I mentioned we have been busy around our house. busy working on some fun projects. we have made our way down the list to Ellie's room.

Ellie's room has been in need of a makeover.

her room was the first room we painted when we moved into our house five years ago (very crazy to think we have been here five years already!!). a few weeks after we moved in, I quickly painted two walls in her room the same color as her previous room. we really liked her old bedroom so I thought the color would be perfect for her new room.

I was wrong.

don't be confused that is cece in ellie's room.

it just never seemed right for her room. we decorated and when she moved up to a full size bed we got a new comforter, but it still just didn't seem right. we wanted her room to be bright and cheery, instead it seemed dark and dull. not only was the color not working, but many things in her room didn't work. it was unorganized and constantly messy. it was time for a makeover.

then a few others things came up....namely Maggie....so her bedroom makeover went on the back burner.

finally this summer it was time! yay!

first up a new wall color. we really gave the dark pink a good try but it just wasn't right. and after reading this post I didn't feel so bad. some colors are just not right in some houses and that is ok. it really is. and sometimes it is just time to move on.

so we are moving on.

first we primed over the dark pink.....better already!

we went with a light aqua color. at first I was really nervous....it seemed so white. as it dried it got darker and more perfect.

it did exactly what I hoped it would....made the space lighter and brighter and more cheery.

paint was just the first step in this makeover......we have big plans for ellie's room!

a loft bed, new curtains, some new artwork, bunting and whatever else we dream up.

did I mention a loft bed?

we have lots to do and you can bet I will be sharing it on this here bloggy. yay!

happy wednesday!!

sisters

when we found out we were going to have maggie, we knew cece would be beyond excited. that she would love having a baby around. that she would embrace her role as big sister....a role she was made for. she was predictable and it has been pretty much the way we thought it would be.

cecers has a lot if love for magpie.

ellie on the other hand was a wild card. we couldn't read her. not that she was ever upset about it, she was just very reserved in her excitement.

that all changed the day she met miss maggie.

I remember clearly how she just kept repeating "our baby is so cute"

right then, she was falling in love with her baby sister.

a love that has only grown over the last year.

I didn't ever think she wouldn't love her, I just never imagined what their relationship would look like.

pride, protection, laughter, silliness, and so so much love.

it's beautiful.

it makes my momma heart so full.

sometimes I see them together and it stops me. I sit and watch. amazed. feeling so blessed. God knew exactly what he was doing. His plan is so amazing. every little detail. so amazing.

happy saturday

hey y'all. happy saturday.

it sure is a happy one around our house!

we had a long week....it was our first full week of school, we had our first softball games, back to school night for both ellie and I, I had two morning meetings, our first bits of homework...

and we survived. actually it went really well....we had a great week.

though it wasn't without incident.....like me getting all the way to school for my early meeting and realizing that maggie's carseat was still in my van.

double super whoops.

thankfully, we have a restful weekend planned.

here are a few snapshots from our week.

the girls flooded the sandbox last weekend and it was maggie's first time! she loved it. it really makes my heart happy to watch them all play together.

and on another note, obviously miss maggie was covered in sand and we used baby powder to get the sand off. i was amazed. it works like a charm!

big peach, little maggie.

sometimes when you are the third child you just have to get the peach out of the fridge and feed yourself.

happy weekend.

First Day of School 2013

today was the first day of school. the big girls were pretty excited....and so was Maggie!

Cece started kindergarten, Ellie started 4th and I started 6th and 7th again.....for like the 9th year.

a few days ago cece told me "I think my first day of kindergarten would go best if we had aunt shanna's monkey bread for breakfast" so we did. that girl. always thinking.

Daddy took the girls to school. He was worried that Ellie was going to be late, but she wasn't. She didn't want to miss dropping Cece off at kindergarten:) She had a great first day and started it off very responsibly....setting her planner out to be signed and emptying her lunch box WITHOUT me asking! eek!

Cece told me she was not nervous, though this picture tells a different story. Cece had a great first day. She has five preschool friends at her school and two are in her class. Plus a few more family friends. It is nice to have all those familiar faces. Oh and she also told me she loved kindergarten. we knew she would!

At dinner tonight she told us that she thinks "the second day of kindergarten will be even awesomer than the first!"

I think it is going to be one awesomer year!
