so i saw this post on FB.
it is a mom in a bath sipping wine and talking about priorities.
about how there are dishes and laundry to do, but she has priorities. her priority was to take care of herself so she can be a good mom. that it won't matter if the dishes were done or laundry put away but her sanity will matter.
all of this is a very valid point.
however, the video bugged me. and brought up something that has bugged me for many years.
it paints a picture that there is one way to be a good mom.
and there simply is not one way to be a good mom.
some mommas can let the dishes and messes pile up without a care in the world.
some mommas need things clean and orderly in order to enjoy their days.
some mommas (like myself) fall somewhere in the middle.
i can handle a bit of chaos. things don't have to be perfect. but i can't let things get too far out of hand. if i do it is very overwhelming for me. it makes me lose my patience.
keeping things tidy and organized is best for me.
healthiest for me.
it protects my sanity.
helps me be the best mom i can be.
and many years ago during my early mom years...i felt like a bad mom for liking to get the dishes done and toys picked up. so i tried the whole let my house be a disaster thing (some of you might be scratching your head and saying but your house is a disaster...well maybe it is but it is a controlled disaster...) and it just didn't work for me.
and i wondered. what is wrong with me. am i a bad mom.
i quickly realized i had to do things my way.
the thing is my way of doing things might not work for any other mom. but i am not any other mom.
i am me.
it drives me crazy when we act like there is one way to do it right. when really all ways are right.
mommas.
i beg you.
be you.
you know you best.
you know what you need in order to keep your sanity.
you do you.
if staying up an extra 30 minutes to wash your dishes and clean your kitchen is what works for you.
do you.
if letting the dishes pile up in the sink for days is what works for you.
do you.
and don't feel guilty about it. don't feel judged. don't feel like you are doing it wrong.
there is no one way.
be you, momma.
be you.

my five favorite oils
1. thieves.
nothing beats thieves. the smell. the immune system support. it is the oil that got me into oils.
2. lemon
the smell alone is awesome. i diffuse lemon to help support the immune system. we also apply to feet and spine. it is an uplifting scent.
3. orange.
orange is one of my favorites. said to improve moods and give emotional support. i love the uplifting citrus smell. i often combine it with thieves. and by often i mean all. the. time.
4. tea tree
tea tree wasn't one of my favorites early on. in fact i bet i only used it a time or two the first year i was using oils. then i started using it on my face. and i fell in love. i use tea tree on my face and scalp. it is said to help deter head lice. yes, please.
5. cedarwood.
i use cedarwood in the diffuser at night often mixed with thieves. kind of vanilla-ish. it is a calming and peaceful scent. bring on the sleepy vibes.

spring breaking.
well our spring break hasn't been full of much spring.....but it has been full of break.
we have not let the snow and cooler temps bug us.
we have been curled up inside keeping it slow and relaxing.
it has been was nice break.
since mid february, we have been dealing with colds that just keep running through our crew. nothing awful. just there. nagging. hitting one or two people at a time. therefore, i knew we would need to take it easy this break.
sleep in. watch movies. take naps.
check. check. check.
kids all seem to be feeling better and are rested. that is a good place to be.
a quick run down of what we have been up to.....
cheering the cyclones to a big 12 championship.
volleyball for jojo
a trip to nana and papas
snow day
binge watching Lab Rats on netflix
momma finished a book!
a short shopping trip
momma sewed new pillows for the living room
board game playing
cheers to more spring break fun.
