Most years we go a little crazy making Christmas goodies. This year we took it easy and only made a few things, but we still had lots of fun!

Meal Planning Monday and Weekend Wrap Up

Week of Monday December 12th

Monday: Lasagna

Tuesday: Beef Enchiladas

Wednesday: Chicken Roll Ups

Thursday: Homemade Pizza

Friday: Breakfast Burritos

*Weekend Wrap Up*

Yesterday Ellie made a top 5 list of her weekend. So here it is..... Ellie's Top Five List!

#5 Getting to Sleep with Mom on Thursday night.
*Tim traveled to Minnesota for a wrestling meet on Friday night. When Daddy is gone the girls get to sleep with mom...it's a treat. The overabundance of blankets and stuffed animals made it not the best nights sleep in the world for me.

#4 Watching Elf on Sunday afternoon.
*Elf is a favorite around our house!

#3 Playing in the Snow on Friday afternoon.
*Ellie, Cece and the neighbor kids piled up enough snow to create a sledding shoot. They had a great time playing in the 1.5 inches of snow.

For some reason it turned my picture upside down....I thought it was funny so I left it that way:)

#2 Eating Chinese
*Ellie and Cece had their church Christmas program on Sunday morning. Because they were the performers we let them decide on lunch. They both chose Hy Vee Chinese! It was yummy! Grandma, Grandpa, Nana and Aunt Emily came to watch the program. Both Ellie and Cecilia did a great job at their concert. It had been a rough morning (Cece's was having shoe issues) so heading to church we had very low expectations of her performance. I taught her Sunday school class so I was with her during rehearsals where she would not leave my side. After rehearsals she had a snack, a drink and a much needed potty break. She went out for the performance and poured-it-on! She was singing and doing the actions! She did fall down a few times. She told us "her feet were confusing." Ellie did a great job as well and was only mildly distracted by the big screen behind her:)

#1 Going to work with Daddy.
*On Saturday afternoon the girls went to work with Tim while Emily and I did some Christmas shopping.

meal planning monday....on tuesday and some other ramblings...

we are trying to get back in the swing of things.....so you will have to bear with us....

Week of Monday November 28th

Monday: We had Italian Dunker

Tuesday: We had Chicken Salsa....so easy and so yummy!

Wednesday: Lasagna Soup

Thursday: Roast, Carrots, and Potatoes

Friday: Breakfast Pizza

Ramblings
1. Ellie's half birthday is coming up in about 10 days. She talks about it NON STOP! Half birthdays are a pretty big deal when you have a summer birthday. Tonight she was looking through her half birthday cards from first grade. She was showing me a card and said "those (pink and blue) were my favorite colors back then." Back then.....like sooooo long ago...a whole year! Geez Ellie!

2. We are slowly but surely getting all of our Christmas decorations up...I had a hard time getting in the mood. Of course I have decided we need to add a few things to our decor....we will see if we get all these projects completed:)

3. A week ago I was very overwhelmed by the fact I had no Christmas shopping done. I picked up a couple black Friday deals online and dropped the girls off and Em's for a quick shopping trip on Sunday and suddenly I am feeling a whole lot better.

4. I have a student that needs a lot of prayers....she is facing the possibility of a very scary diagnosis. My heart is heavy for her and her family. Puts everything is perspective!

5. We do have a lot to be thankful for....my Grandma C fell a week ago and is doing much better. And GG got some great news yesterday and does not have to undergo surgery. God is awesome!!

goodbye Grandma

This past week we said our goodbyes to my Grandma. It is not easy to say goodbye to your Grandma, the only comfort is knowing she is finally home with her Lord and Savior. No more human concerns, lost jewelry, trouble breathing or thickened food, she is dancing fancy free in heaven now...what an amazing gift.

Grandma passed away Sunday November 20th peacefully in her sleep. Ellie, Cecilia and I went with my Mom and Emily to visit her on Saturday. Her spirits were good and she was having a good day. When we were getting ready to leave she made sure to tell us "thank you for coming to see me!" Ellie and Cecilia gave her hugs and kisses and told her they loved her. I said my I love yous and gave her a hug and kiss as well. And the last thing she said to me was "I love you!" I am so thankful we went to visit her, I will cherish that final visit forever.

We love you and we will miss you Grandma!

a day in the life.....

our days seem so filled right now....I am sure in a few years we will look back at these days and think they were so simple and easy (isn't that the way it goes). 7:00 pm Baths, Books, TV, games...wait for Daddy
7:00-8:00 pm Daddy gets home!! Ties for the best time of the day! Daddy eats dinner
8:00-8:30 pm Bed Time...another favorite time of the day....I love cuddling with my girls.

72. youth sports activities offered at our church
73. Chiclets gum. My grandpa passed away when I was 7. I know he was a wonderful grandpa, that he loved me lots and that I loved him. However, I have very few memories of him. I do remember a grocery trip I took with him to Jensen's grocery store in our home town. I was probably 4 or 5 at the time.  He let me pick out a pack of Chiclets gum. Every time I see Chiclets gum, I am reminded of him. The smell, the taste, the package take me back to that shopping trip with my Grandpa. I treasure that memory.
74. cooperation
75. fresh out of the bath kiddos
76. my mother-in-law Cheryl for her love, support, and help when we are in a pinch!

around the house......

howdy folks.....here are a few of the happenings at our house this weekend.....
when I bought the broccoli I am certain it didn't look like that....must be a rabbit hiding in my fridge...or a Cece....

I worked a few crafty things this weekend.

we added to our Thankful tree

the girls convinced me that we needed this little trash can at the dollar store.....they said it was going in the basement/playroom...but Cece thinks it looks perfect next to my big trash can....I am not sold on this one....
look what I found on the basement stairs......someone can write her name...

Ellie worked hard making some friendship bracelets.

that is what we were up to this weekend....how about you???
