jake two weeks

mr. jacob hit the two week mark on tuesday

these two weeks have went fast and slow. it's hard to believe its been two weeks but it also feels like a long time from when we were driving through snow covered streets early that tuesday morning to get to the hospital so we could meet our baby boy.

weight: 8 pounds 12 ounces. almost back to birth weight. he had lost over 10% of this body weight so we have been keeping an eye on his weight. he is gaining very well--they want 1/2 ounce to 1 ounce a day....he is in the 1 & 1/2 ounce to 2 ounce a day range.

length: 21 3/4 inches. he has stretched out a bit more.

sleep: jake has settled into a pretty good routine of going to sleep between 9-11 and sleeping until 1 or 2 am getting up to eat and then back to sleep until between 6-8. he is becoming a good sleeper. knock on wood. praises to God.

eating: mr cheeks nurses every 2-3 hours during the day and every 4-5 hours at night. i can definitely handle this routine.

baths: jacob likes bath time. maybe it is because everyone wants to help with bath time and he gets a lot of attention! like a TON of attention. he likes to hang out for a while wrapped up in his towel, with a diaper on of course.

paci: baby jake does like to take a paci, much to his littlest big sisters delight. he has been getting a lot of hiccups and the paci sometimes helps he get rid of those.

sisters: all three big sisters have fallen in love with their baby brother.

• ellie loves to hold jake. she gets sad if she doesn't get to hold him even for just a little bit each day. she is really good at helping keep him calm when i have something i need to do. jake was able to go cheer for miss ellie at her basketball game last saturday. i am sure he will be one of ellie's biggest fans. 
• cece calls him "buddy" and the way she says it is just so sweet. she loves to care for brother and can get a little territorial when people come to visit. of course she love to hold jake and help with all things baby. she would be heartbroken to miss a bath. cece keeps our basket of jake supplies filled up and loves to help with his laundry. she is a baby lover. 
• maggie wuvs her babee bruder. she reminds us that his name is not jake or jacob, but baby brother. she likes to give him kisses. she seems to be transitioning well. she doesn't seem jealous but does like to have some extra attention from mommy and daddy and her big sisters. 

we have all enjoyed these first two weeks with baby jake. he is going to bring a lot of happiness and i am sure craziness into our family.
