we used this {tutorial} to get ourselves started and just kind of went from there.
we started by gathering up our supplies. i had a decent amount of felt already at home leftover from other activites and we added some new colors. we also picked up a piece of foam board and a few larger pieces of felt to create the board.
we created the feltboard first. the girls choose to have some hills. and I kind of cheated and just taped the felt to the foamboard.
then we moved on to adding trees and houses. the girls cut out the houses...i straighted some edges and added a few details. then i sewed the little pieces together.
i made some roads. yep they are a little wonky...but i think that is a-ok.
then we moved on to people. i drew a pattern and cut it out. we added to hair to each of the girls and cut them out a dress. for now we just have two little girls living in our town.
we worked on feltboard town over several days. adding a little bit here and a little there. the girls definitely want to add more...but we feel like our feltboard is a little small. we wondered that from the beginning. the girls think daddy will have to help us make an even bigger one. this smaller version works for now.

they both enjoy playing with the feltboard, but this really cece's cup of tea. her imagination is running wild right now and she is a story teller.
there are some good shops on etsy that sell pre made feltboard sets. like felty fun and cake in the morn.
i think it would be really fun to add a cupcake stand like this one. these fractions would be cool...especially since ellie is knee deep in fractions in math right now.

and of course this pete the cat set would have miss cece very happy!
really the ideas are endless!
