this summer

when we found out in early may that we were expecting, i knew this summer would be different.

actually i was nervous this summer would be a disaster. i pictured myself nauseous and clinging to life on the couch for days. i was 7 weeks when school got out and would be 18 weeks when school started back up. those are typically the worst weeks for me. and i was afraid my girls would end up with a crappy summer.

so going into summer, i knew we may have to do things differently. so we took the easy, breezy approach. i tried to limit our activities this summer. i planned on lots of pool day and park trips when we could. i figured we would roll with the punches and take it one day at a time. AND take lots of naps. naps for mags, naps for big girls and naps for momma.

we didn't make a big summer bucket list. we talked about a few things we wanted to do but let go of the list. it was freeing.

and guess what?

we have had a darn good summer.

i have felt better than expected. i think a lot of it has to do with my ability to rest when  i need to. early summer was filled with naps. sometimes twice a day. it was beautiful. i have been urpy and green and heaving, but i have been able to manage it and keep a good summer going. we have had a lot of slow good days at home. my favorite kind. it has been good.

happy summer
