a room for the middles

this summer miss maggie transitioned from her crib to her big girl bed. 

while maggie had l.o.v.e.d. her crib. she was ready for the switch. she stayed in her crib way longer than the big girls did. and this transition has been by far the easiest. she was ready. so ready.

when the time was right we had been planning to move cece in with maggie. and this summer we did. cece has now had residence in all three of the kids bedrooms in our house. i guess the next move for her would be into the master bedroom.....

anyway cece and maggie were excited to share a room. 

and we thought it would be good to give the middle schooler (eek) some space. 

welcome to the middles room

i wanted to create a bright and cheery space.

and i love how it turned out.

and while i really wanted to give them a neat space. i also have come to realize our bedroom situations are very.....fluid. so i wanted to put this room together without spending too much money, time or effort. because who knows when we will change things up again.

we picked up a couple new things but mainly moved around things and pulled out a few hidden treasures.  

we kept the paint color the same and left the bunting i made for maggie's nursery.

we added a few new things...

a bed frame i found on FB for $30 (i would still like to paint both head boards the same color).

a dresser that i got for free from my neighbor. i used paint i had on hand to paint it yellow. 

we picked up minnie bedsheets for maggie.

luckily i am a bit of craft hoarder. i pulled out a number of things that i had on hand....

the purple quilt i found for maggie when she was just a baby.

i picked the little house shelf for $2 a couple years ago. spray painted it yellow.

i found the C and M letters a while back at the flea market for a few dollars a piece.

we kept maggie's name bunting and i made a similar one for cecilia to hang above their beds. 

i am pretty pleased with how it all came together. 

i made each girl a "gallery wall"

they each already had a few pieces of their own. 

i added some buntings that i had made a while back.

and some prints leftover from other projects. 

its a fun and happy space. 

and most important the girls love it.
