1. we are back to school. everyone seems to be settling in well. after a long weekend, tuesday could be interesting. :)
2. our kitchen project is really coming along. i painted the cabinets white in late june/early july. then in early in august we chopped off the high top and replaced it with one big counter height counter top. we love it and cannot believe the difference it has made in our kitchen and dining room and well the whole main floor. it was a beast to assemble and install the first piece of counter top. we still have the second to complete. it should be a bit less intense to build. we have slowly be working to complete other little tasks in the kitchen. we installed a new sink, faucet, and garbage disposal. then we added some shiplap around the island. and finally our new dishwasher came last week. little by little it is really coming together. as i type this out it seems so simple, but it really has been a hundred little steps. things that seem like they shouldn't take much time and they do. we are so happy with how it is turning out.
3. with the kitchen starting to feel some what completed. it has given me a little push to clean and organize and finish some little projects around the house. it is funny how with the kitchen project on the to do list, i have pushed other projects to the back burner...even simple things like hang a mirror. i think it is my mind's way of saving my sanity. a family of six can only have so many projects going on...big or small! but now that our big project is nearing completion i have given myself permission to work on some of those little things and goodness it feels good. i have rearranged a couple things in the dining and living room. cleaned out a hall closet. sorted through baby toys and donated about half of them. cleaned my craft room. hung mirrors in both girls bedrooms. we are currently working on building a cubby system to store all the papers and some shelves for the downstairs bathroom.
4. with our new counter top, we need some new stools. debating between barstools with a back and barstools without a back. either way i think they are going to be white. just can't decide which way to go. i think if mags and jake are going to sit there to eat a back is important. so do we get four with backs. because they all need to be the same right? oh the decisions.
5. saturday we went up to ames for a busy day of cyclone sports. we went with daddy to work first. then over to watch a wrestling practice outside of jack trice. yep, the mats were rolled out on the grass. it was a pretty cool atmosphere. then a little tailgating with family. then in to the football game. all the kids had the best day. jake thought he was in heaven. the good guys and football all in one day. sweet memories.
happy monday.
