i have been quiet.
it has been a rough week or so.
tim's grandpa was diagnosed last weekend with pancreatic cancer. its not good.
i have had a hard time wrapping my mind around this.
i feel as if i have been punched in the stomach and had my heart broken at the same time.
one day everything was ok.
the next
its not.
we are in the season of life where we will be saying goodbye to loved ones. we know that.
that doesn't make it easy.
my heart aches for grandpa, my husband, my girls. but i also ache for other families in the same situation. parents who have gotten this same news about their children and children who have gotten this news about their parents.
when they say cancer sucks....its the truth.
cancer sucks.
yesterday morning as part of my #shereadstruth devotional I was reading through Daniel 3:1-23. it is the story of three Christians who were about to be thrown into a fire for being Christians. basically their last words are God will save us and if not....he is still good.
that line got me. it went straight to my heart. the timing of this devotional was not lost on me.
even in all this cancer suck-age God is still here, God still loves us, God still has a great big plan for us,
and God is still good.
so while i am definitely NOT thankful for cancer.
there is still so much to be thankful for....
1. grandpa
2. grandpa's great example of faith, hard work, and love
3. so many family gatherings
4. God's neverending love
5. that we moved back to iowa five years ago
6. doctors, nurses, and hospitals
7. peanut butter cookies
8. being close to family
9. family traditions
10. laughter
God is still good.
