sisters share...

we have a phrase around our house.

sisters share.

sisters share toys, movies, the couch, snacks, games, scooters......rooms.

our big girls are now sharing a room.

and surprisingly, they love it.

there was so much joy.

i was a little befuddled. i wondered why we hadn't done this before. so happy we did.

this probably won't last forever. but we aren't worrying about that now.

we had to do a few things in order to make the room work for both of them.

1. we moved two girls into the bedroom with the smallest closet. so we had to address the clothes storage issue. the girls and i found a dresser at our local stuff etc. it was a great dresser--great size, decent style, and now it is a great color too. the girls had fun helping me sand and paint their dresser. which they share. sisters share. :) also we created the color by mixing some opps paint with a variety of leftover paints. so this is a very custom color.

2. we added some shelves for all their very important stuff. cece's shelf is on the bottom and ellie's is the middle one. its a lovely hodge-podge of stuff.

3. we added some decorations so it felt like the room belong to both of them. i challenged myself to decorate without buying anything new. luckily i am a bit of a craft hoarder so i had some good things sitting around great to be used.

4. created a space for each of the girls.

cece is down below. we brought her cecilia bunting from her old room.

ellie is up top in her loft bed.

we painted her old door headboard to match the dresser. i still need to go in and paint over the screws that hold it to the wall. we also have a shelf that we need to put up that will hold all her books and other stuff so she doesn't end up sleeping on them.

they are happy, so i am happy!
