this boy: fourteen months

jake has been a busy boy over the last couple months.

before his first birthday jake had taken steps. we think it was a rebuttal to all the stories about his sisters walking before they were one. he rattled off steps and then as if to say there i walked before one he went back to crawling. then about a month ago, he started walking again. a little here, a little there. then two weekends ago he started walking all. the. time. one saturday evening as we watched the cyclones play basketball he walked laps around the house. carrying a basketball.

but it's not just walking.

two weeks ago, i was getting a snack for mags and jake. i asked maggie if she thought jake would want a cookie. AND jake started nodding his head YES! that was a first. now he can communicate yes to us. jake are you hungry? yes. jake do you want to go to bed? yes. jake do you want to take a bath? yes.

now he gathers up toys and carries them around. he will get a bowl out of the cupboard and go get a toy and then walk around with them.

tim and i talked about how he is growing up right before our eyes. he is at a phase where he is changing daily. gaining new skills. investigating new things. everyday is is different.

jake at 14 months you....
are soooo very busy.
sleep from 7:30pm to 6:30am
love to eat cheese, strawberries, toast, waffles, blueberries and chocolate chip cookies.
dump the kids silverware and kids dishes out daily.
love to climb the stairs.
know all the fun is happening in the basement and get a little grumpy about not getting to go down with the girls.
have played in potty water. you are attracted to toilets. #grossboy
enjoy bathtime. and you can climb out of the tub. thats fun.
wear size 12-18 and 18-24 clothes.
give THE BEST kisses.
can get shy. when you are shy you hold your hand up by you cheek just like maggie did.
wear size 4 shoes.
have had several haircuts.
love to be outside.
have mastered walking up and down our driveway.
love to carry balls around.
still nap in the morning and in the afternoon.
wear size 3 diapers. but will be moving up to size 4 shortly.
love to climb up on top of things. the step stool. the couch. toy bins. climbing is your jam.
can sign more, all done, food, and nod your head yes. you also have a sign for night night.
moved out of the carrier and into a convertible car seat. you are still rear facing.
love whole milk. but love chocolate milk just a little bit more. #4thchild #YOLO

most of all jake, you are loved.
